If you are looking to learn how to knit or a new knitting skill then I would love to teach you. I offer a number of workshops for all skill levels including complete beginners. For those who can already knit I offer a wide variety of short workshops in different techniques from pattern reading to working with colour, beading etc. All workshops are held at The Wool Sanctuary, groups are kept at no more than 10 so that I can give you all the attention you require. Yarn is supplied to practise with, or you can purchase a kit to start at the workshop and complete at home.

Learn to Hand Knit
This 3 hour workshop will teach participants the basics of knitting. Cast on, Knit, Purl, increase, decrease and Cast off. Participants will be shown how to hold the needles correctly, or comfortable to them, how to reach the correct tension. Fpr an additional cost knitters can start a project using these skills to finish at home.
Learn to 'READ' a Hand Knit Pattern
This 3 hour workshop will teach knitters how to read a pattern. As well as explaining all the abbreviations and knitting language knitters will be shown how to write their progress down whilst knitting a garmenet, accessory etc. For an additional cost knitters can start a project using these skills to finish at home.
Learn to Hand Knit in the Round
This 3 hour workshop will teach knitters how to use dpns (double pointed needles) to knit in the round. This style of knitting can be used to make socks, hats, jumpers, snoods etc. For an additional cost knitters can start a project using these skills to finish at home.
Learn to Hand Knit with Colour 1 (Fairisle)
This 3 hour workshop will teach knitters how to introduce colour into their knitting using the fairisle technique. Knitters will be shown how to create the right tension and how to sew in their ends. For an additional cost knitters can work on a project using this skill to finish at home.
Learn to Hand Knit with Colour 2 (Intarsia)
This 3 hour workshop will teach knitters how to introduce colour into their knitting using the intarsia technique. Knitters will be shown how to achieve the correct tension, prevention of getting holes and how to make the back of their work almost as neat as the front. This technique will be shown for both garter and stocking stitch. For an addional cost knitters can work on a project using this skill to finish at home.
Learn to Hand Knit - Texture 1 (Basket Weave, Eyelets, etc..)
This 3 hour workshop will teach knitters how to introduce texture into their knitting by manipulating knit and purl stitches that they have already learnt in a previous class. For an additional cost knitters can work on a project using the this skill to finish at home.
Learn to Hand Knit - Texture 2 (Cables, Bobbles etc.)
This 3 hour workshop will teach knitters how to work cabbles, bobbles and other textured stitches into their knitting. Knitters will be taught how to cable with and without a cable needle amongst other
Learn to Hand Knit - Texture 3 (Lace)
This 3 hour workshop will teach knitters how to knit lace patterns with hand knitting yarn. Knitters will be shown tips on how to follow an intricate pattern without losing their place. At an addional cost knitters can work on a project using this skill to finish at home.
Learn to Hand Knit with Beads
This 3 hour workshop will teach knitters how to work beads into their knitting. Knitters will be shown how to thread the beads then how to follow a pattern to work beads into a design. For an additional cost knitters can work on a project using this skill to finish at home.
Learn to Finish Off Hand Knitting Professionally
This 3 hour workshop will teach knitters how to finish off their hand knitting professionally. knitters will be shown how to block, pick up stitches, sew in ends, join with mattress stitch. Knitters will leave this workshop looking forward to finishing off all their half finished garments and accessories. Knitters can garments or accessories to finish with them if they desire.
Terms and Conditions.
To reserve your place, workshops need to be paid in advance in full. Unfortunately refunds cannot be given for workshops, knitters can send another knitter in their place if they cannot make a paid workshop. If a workshop needs to be cancelled then a full refund will be given or another date offered for the workshop.
